There is a huge appetite for Philippa Gregory right now. The White Princess is the fifth in a series of bestselling novels, one of which, The White Queen, is the basis of a current BBC1 series. Gregory’s other books have been adapted for big and small screens (most notably, The Other Boleyn Girl). The Tudors certainly make heady raw material, but to those without a passion for historical fiction, the attraction of this latest Tudor novel may be puzzling.
